If any actions were done on the surviving person, the Unmerge would vanish and I think, correct me if I am wrong, would be replaced with the term Restore
No, that's not quite right. As you can see in the 3rd image I posted above, It just plain disappears.
And since I managed to forget one of the images I needed that went between the 3rd and 4th images above, here it is:
As you can see, after the unmerge capability is disabled, the "Restore Person" button is activated in the DELETED PID, enabling it (and just it) to be restored (i.e., undeleted)
Compare this with the 2nd image I provided above.
In all change history logs, whenever you see a "Restore" button, it is for restoring vitals on just that specific PID. The way it is used now is inconsistent with all the other "Restores" in that "Restores" more than just the PID with the change history log that has the Restore button in it. An "Unmerge" by definition always identifies TWO PIDs so there is no ambiguity when using that term in the Change history log for specific PID. The term Restore does not do that. It is ambiguous and inconsistent with how it is used in other spots on the site.0 -

You need to go back and re-read what I said earlier, I said they had similar consequences, not the exact same. And that when you had the old unmerge listed it would resolve it immediately. The restore function you have to do some things manually to THE PERSON IT WAS MERGED TO if someone makes a change after the initial merge. I know what Im talking about after having done more then LITERALLY THOUSANDS of merges on this system!0

Pioneer42 said: If you choose to restore a person from a merge, that person always went back to the way it looked pre-merge (and also depending on whether someone made changes to it prior the merge too). In other words it will look exactly like the person was before pre-merge. The other person not so much.0

Pioneer42 said: There would be no restore Gordon, only into the person itself as it always was. Once a change was done, the Unmerge went away, disappeared. This is what i always hated about he old program, but i understand why it went away. just wish the arbitration group handled merges instead of regular folk. Sheep cause more damage then the pros. MAYBE...0

FamilySearch Moderator said: Yes, Restore Person is different than UnMerge. Thank you to those for illustrating the issue and it has been reported to the teams that are responsible. So we will snooze this thread.0
