Why is it when I put in a death or marriage I keep getting births, I want death records or marriage

    I suspect you are talking about searching historical records.

    The search parameters are based upon what you've entered -- for instance, if you entered a marriage record, the results would include any records of persons for whom that marriage could have taken place -- thus, you get births and deaths when you entered a marriage record. This same is true for birth records. If you enter a birth year and/or place, then you can end up with death records for which the death could have occurred based upon the birth date.

    To narrow your search, use the Collections tab at the top of the search results and select those records that could contain your desired information.

    You could also use the filters at the left side of the search results. This will also narrow the results.
