Tom Huber said: What is interesting is that moving the sources back to the details page is under consideration, but the approach is different. Tyler Peterson wrote a lengthy response on the approach that is being considered at https://getsatisfaction.com/familysea...
It is well worth reading and something that is a great approach.0 -

That was an interesting article about the Rainier Tower.0 -

I find the new format is ridiculous. It takes longer to to navigate. I don't understand why the sources have to be on a different page. I'm constantly going back and forth between the details page and the source. l find I get frustrated and don't feel like using Family Search any more. Most upgrade have been wonderful but I can not find anything good to say about this latest change. All adjustments in the past have been for the improvement of the site, not this time.0 -
Tyler Peterson said: The only recent problem report I know of relating to add child is https://console.getsatisfaction.com/familysearch/conversations/development-team-any-chance-of-a-resp...
We've fixed that.
At this point, if something is still broken, please reply here with the thread dedicated to that problem, or open a new one and I should see it come thru.0 -

This thread which was really more about the changes on the person pages has been marked as "Not Planned". I believe that there are already a couple of threads on the inability to delete Legacy Disputes (not sure of their status but they are out there). You might want to try adding your comments to one of those discussions since I don't think this one is being followed very close at this time.0 -

Phillip Julius Materi said: I have been using familysearch for several years and had finally mastered at least the functions I need, with good help from chats and e-mails. NOW I CAN'T EVEN GET HELP FROM EITHER. THEY TELL ME THEY DON'T KNOW AND TO WRITE TO GETSATISFACTION. I use to click on a name and get a choice of person or tree or sometime just person. There is no increase in speed because I have to click on something, no explaintions, and then click on details. All the relatives I have told about using familysearch.org are going to be lost even if I contact them again and probably confuse them. I just went into memories/gallery where I have 176 entries and could not find the arrange button anywhere. PLEASE BACKUP A VERSION UNTIL YOU CAN COME UP WITH SOMETHING THAT IS BETTER THEN THIS ONE. I have entered well over 1,500 names and now I feel like I have been wasting my time. I was an application and system programmer for 25 plus years and I know a lot about programming but I never pushed anything like this on my user!0

Tom Huber said: Welcome to the community support forum for FamilySearch. FamilySearch personnel read every discussion thread and may or may not respond as their time permits. We all share an active interest in using the resources of this site and as users, we have various levels of knowledge and experience and do our best to help each other with concerns, issues, and/or questions.
It sound more like you haven't used FamilySearch for several years. The change took place around a year ago, and at that time, we were informed that the old "version" would not be rolled back into production.
What we now have with almost a year of changes to the new format for Family Tree is something with which many may have problems. It takes using the system and learning how it works. Yes, there are problems and some of them are the way that links appear and can be used. I have compiled a list of unresolved issues that I am constantly working. The last iteration of that list appeared back in January of this year and a number of the issues have been resolved.
I strongly recommend you start by using The Family History Guide http://thefhguide.com/ and go through the exercises that are provided. It is relatively up to date and provides some good instructions and even though FamilySearch does not author the guide, it is an approved training guide for use with FamilySearch.
Now, if you have specific concerns or issues, take the time to document and illustrate the issue and post it to a new thread. Generalities never work and posting more than one issue to a thread can result in misinterpreting one issue or the other.0 -

How long will it be before we get another complete redesign ? Are we talking months, in which case I'll just stop work and wait.
Will the future redesign be any thing like what we used to have? : Less whitespace, more information in view without having to make further selections, put the input fields back where they were and leave them there instead of jumping from the top to the right hand side when you need to include a spouse . Oh yes, and don't reload and reinitialise all the javascript (yes all, and I mean huge amounts) everytime the page is updated, once it's in the cache it doesn't need to be reloaded, and while the current page is still active it doesn't need to be reinitialised. The volume of web traffic that this fault causes is vast, and the delay is tortuous.

This new format is terrible. It is very difficult to use and a complete waste oif time. Why can't web designers and programmers leave well enough alone. But no, we must alter and change things to keep ourselves in a job.

I have been slowed down quite a bit with this new search format. I have learned to tweak it a little with checking "exact" but it means just that. Anything outside the exact won't appear.
