Website sadly redesigned into SLOW, unappealing, overly work intensive nightmare

Why you destroyed it I will never understand, but I guess it's up to you. Now it takes so long to do anything. Uploading images takes about 3-5 minutes. When before you could upload and go back to the front page & work on the life sketch. But now if you don't stay on the image upload page... then the image won't upload. So then you have to go back and do it all again.
And you used to be able to copy from one field to another. Like birth/death places. But now you have to type each full field one at a time. Making your entire application an overly time consuming workout. I mean, if you have 50,000 family members in your tree they you'll have to type each one and all of their data, dates, marriages, locations, residences, occupations, etc all in a separate dialog box. AGAIN... ONE AT A TIME.
Prior, you could copy & paste some into each area. Now each item has its own dialog box. So now you've made working on a family tree... Zero fun and way too much work typing.
And if you have many images on each of those 50,000 people... Do the math that's 3-5 minutes/each person x 5-10 images x 50,000 = Minimum of 175,000 hours to create the tree. And you can forget growing fingernails for us women. Since you'll wear them down withing one week.
So sad I ever started my tree here, as I'm at 2200 family members to date of 50,000, and now have to find another app and start all over. I sure hope you don't ruin your mobile app too. At least it still works.
Lastly, is there a way to get all my tree data off so I can just upload it elsewhere? Like a file with all of the people in it. Even if only 14 generations, it would be better than starting completely over and retyping all 2200.

Margie Lewis said: Actually it's worse than above. I never was able to get Hulda Lucinda Cunningham
19 May 1872 – 26 July 1967 • LYGY-QGS images uploaded. So far it's taken 10 minutes and the "upload" button still isn't available or present. Multiply that by 50,000 people (if only 1 image each person).
Crazy they destroyed a perfect, wonderfully working website into a joke. Nothing but bugs to work out all over again.
Haven't they ever heard... If it's not broke don't fix it.1 -
David Wynn said: Regarding your last couple paragraphs. This has been stated before, but you're working on a world tree. There is no concept of "your tree" in FSFT.
There are a few offline genealogy programs that try to integrate with FSFT. Legacy Family Tree is one I use (https://legacyfamilytree.com/). There is a very usable free version, as well as a more feature-heavy paid version. With Legacy, you can provide an FSFT profile ID and ask it to import several generations either backward or forward. It does a good job of importing vital details and relationships. I haven't really tried much with pictures.0 -

Correction to above: If you leave the image upload page, it likely does upload, but you just won't have access to see it or use it as a profile pic. But if you go back and try to re-upload, it will say duplicate. So forget re-uploading.0 -

Susan Argyle said: Regarding uploading pictures:
If you have a folder of pictures on your computer, you can upload them all and then tag them to the individuals later.
- Go to Gallery under the Memories menu (NOT the Memories tab for an individual - use the menu at the top of the page. I have that menu available to me here in this forum).
- Click on the big plus sign (+) near the top.
- Click on Select Files
- Go to the folder, and select the files you want to upload, then click Open
PS: I would be surprised if some of those 50,000 aren't already in the tree.0 -
W David Samuelsen said: Susan, I agree as to where to upload - never never the one that is within the person's but at the very top
The reason, if within the person' you're tagging the WHOLE image (be it pdf, jpg, etc.)
Whereas at the very top, you tag the name, or individual.0 -

Sundays are when the FamilySearch site sees the heaviest use and as such, there are features which often fail to work as expected because of the workload on the servers. I try to avoid Sunday use just because of that. Ancestry is affected the same way and it gets really frustrating when it happens.0 -
It used to be that I could find more data through FamilySearch than I could on ancestry - NO MORE. SO VERY SAD that FamilySearch has been totally ruined and just about rendered useless :-(
