Trying to confirm the first name of M. Stockman on marriage record located on GS Film #000987554.
My 3rd GGrM, Mary Stockman (or Melvina?), is she one and the same person? The film record is only showing her as M. Stockman. Digital Fold #004820319, Image #00164.
The marriage was on 21 Nov 1872, Cherokee, Texas. My 2nd GGRM death cert. references Melvina, but census records are conflicting with M. H., Melvinie, etc. and other sources refer her to being the same Mary and Melvina. How can I see the actual marriage record to see if her name was spelled out?

It can be very frustrating trying to find the correct information from records that are that old. If you go to FamilySearch and click on the help button at the top right (it is a question mark in a circle) and then write in the search box, "Where can I get help with my genealogy," you will find lots of suggestions on where and how to search that might help you solve the mystery of the real first name of your ancestor. One of the suggestions is to ask a community, in this case, click on groups and in the search bar write Texas. Maybe someone in that area would be able to help you.

Here is the image. I’m assuming it’s the one on the second page? I can’t make it out but someone else here may be able to figure it out. Good luck !

Also... she and he both have duplicates in fsft... her duplicate is MRSS-4W8 you’re gonna want to merge them

It is the correct one. I think I may need to contact the county directly and see if they will pull the film record. Wm. Davis was married to Melvina's sister prior to her and he marries Susan in 1869 also in the Cherokee Co. She died and then married Melvina. Thanks for responding! I really appreciate, and I merged the two duplicates.
