I am searching for Descendants of the family of Dr. Thomas Jefferson (T.J.) Marcus and/or the Carwile family, specifically those of Joe W. Carwile (1852 AL/SC? - 1917 AL) and Mary Ellen Dennis Carwile's (1858 AL - 1903 AL) 3 daughters: Birdie Carwile Shivers (1877 AL - 1941 GA), Emma J. Carwile Davenport (1883 AL -1945 AL) and Lillie/Lily E. Carwile (1879 AL-1916 AL). Lillie Carwile was my great grandmother, She died July 17, 1916 while giving birth to my grandmother Louise Elizabeth Carwile, who was then adopted by Dr. T.J. Marcus and his wife Cora Motes/Moats Marcus of Clanton, Chilton, Alabama and her name was changed from Carwile to Marcus. The birth record shows father as unknown.... DNA points to the Reynolds surname.... we are hypothesising a certain married Mr. Reynolds (I don't want to add his name as he most likely still has Descendants living) who appears to have been familiar/friendly/neighbor to both the (Marcus's and the Carwile's) as the most likely father of Louise. I was hoping to possibly find some living Descendants of Lilies sisters, or possibly any of the Marcus's who may have heard some sort of rumor possibly about Lillie Carwile who died while giving birth. I'm know it's a long shot but I'm kinda out of ideas. Thank you:)

I've added the 2003 obituary for Evie Caton Davenport as a source in FamilySearch (LB12-GTB). It lists family members and their locations.

As of April 2020, Birdie's grand daughter-in-law, Shirley Gordon Shivers (widow of William Brent Shivers, Sr.), was still living in Tifton, GA. Her phone number was 229-382-5541.
