How do I delete a line of people on my family tree. I found through my DNA that my fathers parents were different than who I have listed and all the family after that. I have verified the new family relation by more DNA tests

My fathers name is Myrl Wayne Skiver which he changed it from Merle Turner his birth name. His real parents are Clyde Potts 1896-1980 & Anna M. Turner 1900-1989. He was raised by Henry J. Skiver 1890-1972 & Etta L. Skiver 1896-1965. Etta is Annies older sister. Thanks

    Hello Malcolm,

    Great question.

If you want to keep both sets of parents:

You can include more than one set of parents for a person, such as the biological and the adoptive parents. One way to do this is to add the child to a parent's record.

The other way is to add the parent to the child's record. Like this.

So if George Edward Forester Gill was really your Father Myrl Wayne Skiver You can just Add The Newly found parents by clicking the Add Parent toggle on the upper right. Add parents

Then you can remove the child from the other parents. By clicking on the button for the child.

Change relaltionship of child to parents. This window will come up. To delete the parents, you click on the button for the child that says "Remove or Replace.

Remove or replaceWhen you click the above button you will see this window. Then by clicking on the box, it will remove the child from the parents.

I have reviewed the relationshipsYou can add both parents and designate their relationship by clicking on the button on the child defining their relationship by the choices given.

Parent-child relationshipsSo your father could keep both sets of parents by designating the type of relationship.

Biological, adoptive, step-parent, Guardianship, Foster parent.

Then again. if you want to just keep the DNA parents, you do that by deleting the relationship to the old parents. Remove or replaceThen choosing in the next window to delete.

I have reviewed the relationshipsHere is a link to the help article I found in the Help Center of FamilySearch that describes these actions. https://bit.ly/33Vz8ZY

You can use the FamilySearch Help Center.

A great Research source is Help Feature on FamilySearch.org. Sign into FamilySearch.org and your Family Tree.

On the upper right near to your name is a ? Question Mark. Click on that ? and when the confusing down box appears, click on "Help Center" at the bottom. When it goes to the next page, put your question in the Search Box. It takes a bit of time, using different search criteria to get the result you want. But likely it is there, just a bit hard to find.

    I hope this is helpful.

    Anitra
