Referred to @Germany Genealogy Research by admin. Who are the birth parents and where is the birth
Who are the birth parents and where is the birth location of Charles Reichenbach born about 1829 in Prussia and died 1878 in Pittsburgh, PA.
Family lore spoken by my great grandfather Charles Reichenbach is that he and his brother were born in Prussia. They were in a military unit somewhere in Prussia and did not like it. They were either shanghaied or became a stowaway on board a sailing ship sometime in between 1850 and 1859 and landed in New York City. According to a census, my grandfather, Charles H. Reichenbach, was born in New York City in1865 and his oldest brother was born in New York City in 1860. Are there records of the various military units for each of the Prussian kingdoms that I could go through to see if he and his brother are listed?

There is only 1 NYC ship log document for Reichenbach that fits your ancestor. Take a look, maybe it is a match. https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:939V-51P5-K?i=179&cc=1849782&personaUrl=/ark:/61903/1:1:27PK-8J7

Dear Margaret,
I do not know if Li6W-GTN is his ID or not. I do not know what that number means. I do not have any documents so far that have that number on them. I have the 1870 Pittsburgh, PA census that list Charles and Augusta Reichenbach with their children but that number does not appear there (see attachment). Where can I find a Charles Reichenbach document that has that number so that I can confirm that it is my great grand father? Thank you for helping me to find this information. With love in Christ,
George

The ID is a number from Family Search, not the gov't or any certain document. On the FamilySearch website, it helps you locate a specific person, build your family tree, and 'attach' documents to the person. L16W-GTN is his FamilySearch ID#, and I have found and attached the 1870 census to it. Here is a screenshot of where the ID# is found, and a link to your ancestor's page. Two other people have been interested in this person, kjordan115@gmail.com and (her FamilySearch name) AnnaVernon1.

If you want I can attach it for you, then you will have that information as people look in Europe for ties.

Here is one who might also be him. This is a naturalization record in Ogle, Illinois in 1855, Usually naturalization was a few years after immigration. If Naturalization was 1855 that would fit the other record of immigration in 1851. https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:QGRF-L2GC . I am going to attach these 2 records to your relative. You can detach them if you feel they are in error.
