Why do we not have the ability to edit names on the United States 1900, 1910 and 1930 Censuses?
There are edits for places and dates. The 1920 and 1940 Censuses have the ability to edit the names. The name edit is available on Ancestry.com. What is the difference on these Censuses and is this something that is coming soon?

A post was made in the (New) "IDEAS" Forum about the "1910, Census of the United States of America" around the same time you raised this 'Question'.

Why Can't I Edit Names in the 1910 Census?

I notice that we are not able to edit names in the 1910 United States Census. Why is that?
.
Out of curiosity, I checked other census years, and see that we do have the ability to edit names in the 1920 & 1940 censuses. I've read the article about Why Can't I fix Indexing or Transcriptions Errors? - but, it doesn't seem to make sense that you would have different agreements from one census year to another.
.
I'm just wondering if this is a glitch.

A lot depends upon where the index came from.
Not all indexes are produced through FamilySearch.

I just checked the 'FamilySearch' "Wiki" for that "1910, Census of the United States of America".

Question 1:

Why am I not able to view the image when I login, but am directed to Ancestry.com where I have to pay for the image? Are there other options for viewing the images?
.
Answer 1:
'
- FamilySearch has rights to publish images online to users from the supporting organization only (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints). Patrons logging in with a church account will be able to view the images at FamilySearch.org. You may also view the images without cost at the Family History Library and some FamilySearch Centers. Call ahead to check if the film is available at your local center.
.
- U.S. Censuses can also be viewed free of charge through Heritage Quest at local libraries.

So ...

A join project, hence most likely the reason why the "Index" for the "1910, Census of the United States" CANNOT be "Edited".

I know that this does not help; but, I hope this gives you some perspective.

In relation to this 'Question' of yours, can I suggest that you consult the 'FamilySearch' "Wiki', that may offer or have answers about the other Census you refer to.

Why can't I fix indexing or transcription errors?

Where it states

------------------
On FamilySearch.org, you can now correct transcription errors for many of the collections on our site. Here are a few common reasons why you may not be able to correct a transcription error that you find.
- As of March 2020, the capability to edit incorrect dates and places may depend on language, location, and the collection where the record is stored. If you are unable to edit a date or place, please be patient. The capability is forthcoming.
- Some of the indexed records on FamilySearch.org do not have a corresponding image that can be used to validate the correction.
- FamilySearch may not own the index, and our agreement with the index owner may not allow for user-submitted corrections.
