I am unable to determine "Relationship" status of some direct ancestors and their families because t
Sometimes I go down rabbit holes and I use the Relationship status link to help me find my way back to the family I was working on. Not even "History" helped this time. I had to go into my Tree and follow the Tree back to the great, great.... grandmother I was working on.
Someone wrote that the issue was because the Medieval records were inaccurate. The 1700's are in the Baroque era which was preceded by the Renaissance era by several centuries. There are accurate records in these time periods.

As an aside ...

Just a thought ...

IF, you have not already; THEN, ...

You can always try (BYU) "RelativeFinder".
.
(BYU) "RelativeFinder" digs (pun intended) a lot DEEPER in "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch', than 'FamilySearch' does.
.
(BYU) "RelativeFinder" is one of the "Third Party" Applications that "Certified" to work with "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch'.
.
BYU = Brigham Young University, in Provo, Utah, USA (ie. the Church University).
.
From the "Family History Technology Laboratory", of the "Computer Science" Department.
.
Here is direct link to "RelativeFibder"

.
.
"RelativeFinder" has many 'Bells and Whistles'.
.
Magic.
.
Enjoy.
.
I hope this helps.

You probably need to contact FamilySearch support to get an answer to your question. One issue is that if the names are before the year 1500, you will need to get special permission to do the temple work.

If you can go to the extended person and use Trees or the Fan Chart to go backwards, or put the name in Descendancy and see if it will get to you or yours.
Yes, Prior to 1500 needs to go to FamilySearch because they have a special group that research that time period.
Good Luck @Anitra Whittle

You cant just make a blanket statement that such and such period has inaccurate records
each person record has to be considered on its own
some can be very accurate and some can be totally inaccurate
with millions of people who have entered data over time - just depends on who entered it and with what sources.
but it is true of course that original sources for the medeival period can often be scarce if non existant.

from a "technical perspective" FS doesnt prevent you from submitting temple work for someone it cant find a link between you and them
(other than recent people born in the last 110 years for which you need to be among closest family relatives)

Thank you all!

as you go down "these rabbit holes" - - (not that it is a requirement)
but would be good to note the PID's of like at least every 4th generation - so that you can re-trace your steps using teh standard pedigree chart view
