    .

    Just to clarify ...

    .

Are you asking how to link "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch' to "Ancestry_com" (and, other 'On-Line' Websites)?

    .

Or, are you asking how to link an 'Account' in "Ancestry_com" to "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch' (and, other 'On-Line' Websites).

    .

    Certainly possible, either way ...

    .

    But ...

    That said ...

    .

    There is a difference.

In tech speak, I am trying to export from FamilySearch to Ancestry and the other sites.

I seek to export Family Search info to the other sites in order to fill in gaps in the lines stretching back approximately 1000 years already.

Nothing to do with 'tech speak' ...

    .

You CANNOT "Download" (or, create a GEDCOM File) of your "Ancestral" lines directly from "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch'.

    .

The best option to get you "Ancestral" lines from "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch' is to use one of the "Third Party" Applications (being one of the "Family Tree Management programmes) that is "Certified" to work with "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch'.

    .

The "Third Party" Applications that are "Certified" to work with "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch' can be found in the "Solutions Gallery" of 'FamilySearch'.

    .

Here is a direct link to the "Solutions Gallery" of 'FamilySearch':

    https://partners.familysearch.org/solutionsgallery/s/

    .

And, here is the direct lik to the "Family Tree Management programmes" themselves:

    https://partners.familysearch.org/solutionsgallery/s/list?category=family_tree_management

    .

"Third Party" Applications that are "Certified" to work with "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch' include, BOTH, 'On-Line' "Websites" (eg. "Ancestry_com"; or "MyHeritage_com"; or, the like); and/or, 'standalone' personal (computer) programmes ("Ancestral Quest"; or, the like).

    .

Some of the "Third Party" Applications that are "Certified" to work with "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch' have, BOTH, a Basic FREE version; and/or, a Premium PIAD (ie. "Subscription") version, the latter just having more 'Bells and Whistles'. The Basic FREE version is sufficient for most, the average, User/Patron. Whereas, the Premium PAID (ie. "Subscription") version is the choice of most experienced and 'power' Users/Patrons.

    .

You can use ONE or MORE than one, of the the "Third Party" Applications, the choice is yours.

    .

Most of the "Third Party" Applications that are "Certified" to work with "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch' that are "Family Tree Management programmes, have INTERFACES that work/connect (directly) with "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch' that can, "Download"; and, "Upload" (ie. "Transfer) between the "Third Party" Application and "Family Tree".

    .

    As an aside ...

    .

IF, you ALREADY have an 'Account' with some of those "Third Party" Applications; THEN, 'FamilySearch' PARNTERS with some of those "Third Part" Applications; whereby, you can connect/link existing 'Accounts'.

    .

    I hope this helps.

Like you, some of us are lucky; and, can go back that far; and, even further.

Personally, I am just happy to work in "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch' alone.

And, NOT worry about the other Websites.

Hey; but, that is just me.

    James,

If you are not a member of the church, about the only solution available is to do as Brett suggested and get a free copy of something like Ancestral Quest or RootsMagic for your PC or Mac. With that you can download sections of the FSFT onto your PC, where with that same tool, you can export it to a GEDCOM file. You can then upload that GEDCOM to other sites that you desire.

FS accounts for church members can be linked with certain other websites such as Ancestry and MyHeritage. With that arrangement, you can go into a special limited Ancestry.com account and copy data directly from the FSFT into a tree on that account. Ancestry allows you to download 4 generations at a time.

Note that due to limitations in GEDCOM format and a tool's ability to create them, things such as sources usually do not transfer. However direct connections between the FSFT and a PC application or some sites like Ancestry WILL allow you to copy sources over, but that is usually on a record by record basis (i.e., you can't download all the sources for, say, 4 generations at the same time. You must download all the person records and then one by one, go in and transfer the sources between the records).
