Finding a relative in the USA who served in the military/airforce

I am trying to find my grandfather who served in the airforce and military in the USA. He was stationed in HongKong, and I have found a record of him with my grandmother and two children flying from Hawaii to the USA. The other record I found of him was a 1940 New York Census where he was 7 years old with his mother and a 1960 divorce record. I cannot find any record after that census and before that divorce record. During that time, his surname went from Crossley (His mothers surname at the time from an ex marriage) to Flores. I have no idea where Flores came from, or who his father is. Is there a way I can access military, birth records, and is there a reason why no records exist in between, that I can find? Robert Crossley born 1932/1933, his mother was Muriel Aleda Elliott (Married Crossley) born 1902 in Canada. I believe he is still alive.@Military Records

I know this doesn't have any information about Robert, but you said you didn't know who his father was. This document listed a first name, Elwood, but it didn't say a last. I guess it leaves us to assume it was Crossley. Hope this helps.

I assume this is your Robert Crossley. The birth year is 3 years off, but this seems quite reasonable. What do you think?Robert Crossley

I think this is a link to that Naturalization Record. Her papers say she had no children. https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3QS7-89HN-K25D?i=145&cc=2060123&personaUrl=%2Fark%3A%2F61903%2F1%3A1%3AQY4V-VHT2
