Merging "Read Only" people
Hello! Currently, the FamilySearch has a campaign currently about female ancestors
https://www.familysearch.org/campaign/femaleancestor
Below the section where your own ancestors appear, there are links to famous women in history, including Jackie Kennedy's death notice indexing. Curious, I clicked in, and then clicked on the linked profile:
https://www.familysearch.org/tree/person/details/LZNR-G97
For obvious reasons, the profile is Read Only. But along with endless record hints for obituaries, there's a Possible Duplicate. Indeed, the duplicate (GW2M-H2K) is also her, and also protected.
From there, I realized that there are a minimum of two protected profiles for JFK himself, GW2M-H75 and L89N-K6Q. And two protected profiles for JFK, Jr., GW2M-Z3R and L89N-K6N.
Jackie's dad is also duplicated as LZNR-GV8 and GW2M-Z4X. Neither of those are protected, but as both are connected to someone who is protected, Jackie, they can't be merged either.
Are there any power users that can merge these eight profiles into four?@FamilySearch Match Labeling

Short Answer: 'No', NOT Users/Patrons, when the individuals/persons are "Ready Only"; ESPECIALLY, important/famous individuals/persons.
.
Now ...
That said ...
.
'It is not all doom and gloom' ...
.
IF, you (or, another User/Patron) are DIRECTLY related to the (important/famous) "Read Only" individual/person; and, have information/detail that you wish to add; or, need to "Merge"/"Combine", such "Read Only" individuals/persons; THEN, you can CREATE a 'FamilySearch' "Support" Case; and, request such be done - And, you may even get 'lucky', where 'FamilySearch' may even grant you access to do the work yourself.
.
Whereas ...
.
IF, you (or, another User/Patron) are NOT related to the (important/famous) "Read Only" individual/person; and, have information/detail that you wish to add; or, wish to "Merge"/"Combine", such "Read Only" individuals/persons; THEN, you can still CREATE a 'FamilySearch' "Support" Case; and, request such be done - But, I certainly doubt that you be granted access to do so yourself.
.
Here is a "Knowledge Article" in 'FamilySearch':
.
What are read-only records in Family Tree?
https://www.familysearch.org/help/helpcenter/article/what-are-read-only-records-in-family-tree
.
And, that includes how to report errors.
.
The 'Status' of some "Ready-Only" individuals/persons can be "Changed" to no longer being that of "Ready-Only"; especially, for those that are not overly important/famous.
.
In fact, I had one myself recently, where one individual/person was NORMAL; whereas, a "Duplicate" was "Read-Only".
.
I submitted a 'FamilySearch' "Support" Case providing the information that the "Read-Only" individual/person was NOT overly important/famous, that the "Restriction" related to their 'Place' of "Death" (during "World War II); and, that I wanted to "Merge"/"Combine" the "Read-Only" individual/person with a "Duplicate" individual/person.
.
'FamilySearch' investigated what I provided; and, agreed that the 'Status' of "Read-Only" in that particular case, was unnecessary; then, "Removed" the 'Status' of "Ready-Only".
.
But, in regards to "Jackie KENNEDY" ... that is another matter entirely ...
.
I hope this helps.
