Adding a previously unknown Spouse to a record.

I have found a marriage to an ancestor and I am not that familiar with this branch of family. Its a marriage record but is a new person to the tree and have no birth or death dates. Do I just leave those entry blank?

    Short Answer: 'Yes'.

Just add the name, if that is all you have (and, the Marriage information).

You can always go back later; &, add other details (eg. Birth & Death) when know.

Occasionally I will add a birth date and place based on the information from the marriage. And if there are children you can guestimate using their dates as well.

When it says "Why are you adding this information" I put it is a guesstimate based on marriage, etc.

Then the program can search based on those dates and may come up with new sources.

Then when I have some sources, I take that entry out.

I may be way out on a limb, but I do that.
