Could someone please help me find the answer.
A ancestor of mine John Souter b 1757 Buriton Hampshire England married Hannah Windebank at Froxfield, Hamp. 1778. Sadly Hannah died the same year 1778 after the birth of their son William 1778-1821.

I am trying to find out if John remarried with him only being 21 at the time of his marriage to Hannah. There is a marriage 11th April 1784 between a John Souter and Sarah Barry at Catherington Hampshire which is about 5 miles away. I wondered if this could be the same John Souter the problem here is that this John was born 1754 and died 1811 Catherington. I have tried Hampshire Records Office but with no success so if anyone can help or point me in the right direction i would be most grateful.

If you would like any further information please get in touch.

Kind Regards

It's possible that the birth date is recorded wrong. I found John in Family Tree (ID# K8WX-RVF) and I see that you've attached the record of his marriage to Hannah, but the birth year of William is 1787, not 1778, and there's a son named Edward born in 1786. I also see that the record of the marriage to Sarah Berry is attached. Did you find his birth and death years by browsing that film?

You may want to also post your question in the @England Genealogy Research and @British Isles Family History Research groups. There may be others who could help you there.

I have found the following marriages for a John Souter. He married a Diana Mills at Alverstoke, Hampshire on the 11th June, 1781. Alverstoke is 25 miles from where your John Souter was born. Diana died and was buried on the 18th January 1789. He then married a Mary Denet on the 6th April, 1801 again at Alverstoke. Don't know if it is your John Souter but worth a look.
