Nobody answered the original question regarding Zoom on FHC computers.

I personally think it's a great idea. Let's say we have a high risk member that is afraid to come into the FHC but still needs some help with their family history. We can use Zoom and have a great one-on-one session with that member.

@James Hurst2 Certainly, depending on your local situation, a family history center can obtain a Zoom account and use it to help people. Each center would need to make that decision in consultation with your stake priesthood leaders.

In my stake, we are encouraging all temple and family history consultants to use technology to help members during this difficult time. There are free options such as Skype and Google Meets. You can get a free Zoom account too, but it has some limitations.

One caution. For record images that require a patron to be in a family history center in order to view the images, the center staff must not share those images through technology with the patron. Contracts require a physical presence and the patron's personal sign-in for viewing. So, do respect the rules and use remote connections as a way to teach and help, but not a way to access materials that are not accessible from home.

Actually, the free Zoom account will suffice. If you have more than two people in a meeting, you have a 40 minute time limit, but if it is you and one other person, you have 24 hours (if I remember correctly). While I do enjoy helping others, I ain't gonna give them a 24 hour help session; therefore free Zoom will work.

    Good 'Question' ...

    .

Where abouts (ie. what 'Group') in the "Community.FamilySearch" Forum was the original 'Question' regarding "Zoom on FHC Computers" asked?

    .

    eg.

    General Questions

    Family History Centre Consultants

    FHC Technical Support (North America)

    .

I know that the matter has been raised (in another context) in one of the above groups (and, there have been some answers).

@James Hurst2 - Not an issue in my area - the building is off limits to all members with no exceptions.

Thanks for the caution. It answered my unasked question regarding restricted images.
