Open the child's details page. Go to the Family Members section. At the top of the right-hand column, click +Add Parent. If the father does not yet have a profile in Family Tree, fill in the details on the pop-up to create one. If he already has a profile, click By ID Number on the pop-up and paste in his PID.

Further to what 'X24mom' and 'Julie' have already proffered ...

Firstly ...
Leave the "Relationship Events" as "Blank" [ ie. DO NOT add ANY 'Event" ]
.
Secondly ...
"Add" COPIOUS "Notes" wherever you can, to the fact that they NEVER MARRIED; Nor, LIVED TOGETHER, if such was NOT the case.
.
ie.
.
For "Couple"
- The "Couple Relationship" [ie. "Pop Up" ("Modal") 'Window', under "Relationship Notes" ]
.
For EACH individual/person
- The "Other Information" Section, under "Custom Fact"
- The "Collaborate" 'Tab', under, BOTH,
... • Notes
... • Discussions
- The "Life Sketch" ... But, that is just me ...
.
I prefer 'Overkill', just 'plaster' it everywhere you can; then, no one can say they did not see or notice [ But, alas, they still do ... ].
.
I hope this helps.
