On the person's individual (detailed) record, next to his or her name (bottom of the screen titled "Family Members") is a small pencil-in-a-box icon, which is the edit button. Click on that and a new popup window will appear for that person (and the person's spouse if shown) that will allow you to remove or replace the person. If you click on that "remove or replace" link next to the name you want removed, you will be taken to another screen that gives you additional instructions and an "are you sure?" type of action before you check the box to make the change effective. You also may be asked to give a reason for removal or replacing/changing though responding is usually optional.

    Kathleen shared how to delete

but remember in many cases what you want is not to "delete"

but rather to "disconnect" from an erroneous relationship entered.

it depends what the ultimate goal is.

you would normally not delete - unless it was just a plain simple error that you, yourself created in by mistake.

    .

That depends on what you mean by "... how do I delete a person ..."!

    .

IF, you mean how do you "Remove" (or, "Replace") an individual/person from a "Family"; THEN, as 'Kathleen' has proffered is the way to go.

    .

    Whereas ...

    .

IF, you mean how do you "Delete" an individual/person from a "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch', altogether; THEN, that is another matter entirely.

    .

    So ...

    That said ...

    .

    Which is it ...

    .

"Remove" (or, "Replace") an individual/person from a "Family"?

    .

    OR ...

    .

"Delete" an individual/person from a "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch', altogether?

    .

By the way, if it is the latter; then, you can ONLY do such, if you are the ONLY "Contributor" to that individual/person; and, NO other User/Patron (including: 'FamilySearch') has been contributed ANYTHING to that individual/person.

    Hello @MaryJones901

Thank you for posting your question here in the community. If you did not add the individual to your tree you can not delete the individual. If the individual is in the wrong place on the tree you will need to edit the relationship and remove the individual either as a child or as a spouse. We have included some articles that may be of help in making the necessary corrections

We hope that this information is helpful.

I need to remove this person. She is not related. The person that put her in did not know what he was doing. I have tried to contact him, with, NO, response. She is not even attached, just comes up when I turn on Family Search. How do I get ride of her and the people that are attached to her. It is like I have two family tree's on my acct
