Here are instructions for deleting the tag if you want it not to be associated with your ancestor.

In Family Tree, if a photo or document shows up on the wrong person, the memory contains a tag to that person. Any user can fix this problem by detaching the tag, which removes it from the wrong person’s record.

    • If you did not upload the memory, Detach from Family Tree is available.

    Steps (website)

    1. On FamilySearch.org, sign in and click Memories.
    2. In the drop-down menu, click Gallery.
    3. Click the photo or document that has the tag you want to edit or delete.
    4. In the People box on the right, click the down arrow of the tag.
    5. If the story or audio file has a tag to a wrong person, delete it:
      1. Click Delete Tag. (This option appears only if you created the tag.)
      2. Click Delete.
    6. Change the size or placement of a tag:
      1. Click Edit tag. (This option appears only if you created the tag.)
      2. To make the tag larger or smaller, click the green circle, and drag it to the correct size.
      3. To reposition the tag, click in the tag, and drag it to the desired position.
    7. Detach an incorrect tag:
      1. Click Detach from Family Tree. (This option appears if you did not create the tag.)
      2. Enter a reason statement.
      3. Click Detach.
    8. You mistyped a tag and applied it to several memories:
      1. Add a tag.
      2. Confirm you want to delete the tag, and click Delete.
      3. Click Delete Tag. (This option appears only if you created the tag.)
      4. Click the down arrow of the tag.
      5. Click the first memory.
      6. Click Show All Memories Tagged with This Name.
      7. Repeat for each memory that uses the mistyped tag.

why does it look like a spam record???

if this is the record you are referring to:

    https://www.familysearch.org/photos/artifacts/14652577?cid=mem_copy

it looks fine to me. it is a tomb inscription. Part of the item is in latin.

Dennis, I've sent a message to the submitter of the memory. The dates for this tombstone inscription is in the 1300-1400's and in another name. I don't think it's spam just a mis-entry, but it should be removed from this person. Any suggestions?? thanks,

    Carol

The reason I described it as a spam record is because it is attached to 378 unrelated random profiles.

    I dont think this is a mis-entry

this was obviously intentional (somebody actually went to the effort of making all these links)

    not just one innocent mistake.

I am wondering if the person figured out (or believed) that they were a descendant of this knight

and may have linked everyone between themselves and this knight.

    I really dont know

but the first thing would at least be to ask the person who tagged it why they tagged it to so many people.

truth is I would just ignore it.

I agree that tagging an item to 378 people is "over the top"

but even the people who police the system for abuse - are very conservative as to items that actually consider "abuse". I agree we shouldnt be doing stuff like this and when its not obvious - we should add comments as to why we do stuff we do.

but if it really bothers you - - -I think any of us can go in and delete a tag that we feel is wrong.

    Carol Ann,

I appreciate you trying to help, but don't change ancestor information or add attachments to people you have not been researching. You added attachments and changed information for the Lentzes that is incorrect.

    Thanks,

    Dan
