Best way to search for relatives parents when you don't know when and where they were born. Have been looking for weeks to find (G99S-HSL) Martha Caroline Gibson's mother and father's information.

She married John Ira Roe GM3Q-Q6W on January 9, 1884 (White County, Ill Marriages) Page/Image #[139] record #[251]. The marriage records show her parents names to be Gideon Gibson/Nancy Shaw but I can't find anyway to connect them, I can't find a marriage record for the parents or a birth record for Martha showing them as her parents. It was a 1st marriage for them both.

I appreciate any responses and thank you for your help.

Gloria

@Gloria Senf There is no one best way to find Martha's parents. However, there are are a few things that you can do. First, because you are unsure about whether William Gibson and Nancy Shaw are her parents you can try and contact the person that listed them in the tree as her parents and collaborate with them. You can also work backwards from the last census she is in and see what other census records she is listed in. Look for clues connecting the Gibson and Shaw families in the same census record . Look for her in other family history programs ie. ancestry.com, my heritage.com, find a grave etc.

    Hope this helps.
