@X24mom X24momâÂ
.
FYI
.
Using the "Web" (ie. Computer) version of "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch' ...
.
[ ie. NOT the "Mobile" Application of "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch' ]
.
I just SUCCESSFULLY "Downloaded" a Photograph I uploaded to one of my Ancestors.
.
But ...
That said ...
.
There was NO indication that the download was being "Processed"/Processing"; NOR, any indication that the download was successful.
.
I had to go to the "File" Manager on my computer, where it I could see that the "Photograph" had been downloaded.
.
I am NOT familiar enough with using the "Mobile" Application of "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch'; especially, with regard to "Memories"; but, I suggest that you check the "File" Manager on you phone, to see it the download was actually successful or not.
.
Like I said, in my case, there was NO indication that the download was being "Processed"/Processing"; NOR, any indication that the download was successful.
.
Just a thought.

@X24mom X24momâÂ
.
FYI
.
I could NOT help myself ...
.
I just tried the SAME using the "Mobile" Application of "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch' ...
.
[ I was using an "Android" Phone ... ]
.
Firstly, unlike the "Web" (ie. Computer) version, there was an indication on my Phone that the "Photograph" was being downloaded.
.
Secondly, the download was SUCCESSFUL, it was saved to the "Gallery" on my Phone.
.
Sorry, works fine for me, with an "Android" Phone ...

@X24mom X24momâ I'm not an iPhone user, but sometimes when I download to my phone, I have to check my downloads folder which is in the "My Files" application. This was organized by Samsung and I can usually find anything I'm looking for there. Hope you've found a solution!

Ty @Brett .â i donât think iPhone has any type of âfile managerâ I did check my âphotosâ app and iCloud files to see if anything uploaded there but I couldnât find anything in either location. Now, when I choose to âdownloadâ a document from historical records, it will open in a new âtabâ and gives me to option to save to photos or iCloud files ... but memories does nothing ... I click âdownloadâ and nothing at all happens

Ty @Brett .â I havenât tried using the application as I try to save as much space on my devices as I possibly can lol... but I believe Android has way more options than apple when it comes to these kinds of things and thatâs probably what my problem is ... the Apple device
when I use chromebook, it downloads Just like anything else. I just wasnât sure if I was doing something wrong or not, sounds like itâs just a matter of which device I Use

Ty @Amber Marstella Rothamerâ I had a Samsung galaxy a couple of years ago and I LOVED having the capability of actually being able to dig into the files and find basically anything I had ever saved! However we have been using Apple products since the first iPod came out lol.... and my husband refuses to use or buy any other brand (very frustrating lol) so yeah Iâm pretty sure itâs just an Apple issue as to why it wonât work with my phone

@X24mom X24momâ I don't have an iPhone, but do have an iPad and finding downloads on these devices is not straightforward since they don't have a downloads folder like Windows or Android devices do. Usually image files go to your Photos app on the phone, but not always. The next most likely place to find a download on these devices is in the Files App.
Â
I tried it out on my iPad. I downloaded a photo. It did not go to my Photos folder. I had a hard time finding the Files folder, but when I found it, the photo was there. Here is how I found the Files folder, in case it helps. I opened the App store and tapped the Search icon and searched for Files. There it was at the top. I tapped Open and my downloaded item was there.
Â
Once you find it in files, tap and hold and a menu appears. From there you can copy it or move it somewhere.
Â
By the way, if you use your phone a lot for your family history work, you might want to try the FamilySearch Family Tree app. It's optimized for the smaller screen and you can do almost all the things there that you can do via the web.

Ty @N Tychonievichâ i use iPad and iPhone (and chromebook occasionally lol). I checked my photos and files and couldnât find the record... Iâm gonna try again thoughđ I just wanted to give you a quick tip that has saved me tons of time .... almost everything on your Apple device is searchable, I use âsearchâ anytime I need to find pretty much anything on my iphone or iPad... to bring up the search bar you do the following: on iPad, from the home screen, starting at top right hand corner gently swipe down and to the right (kinda like in a âfanâ shape) and the search bar will appear at the top of youâre screen.. if youâre using iPhone you can just swipe down from top toward bottom while in the home screen and the search bar will appear; from there, you can type any keyword to find what youâre looking for - your messages, contacts, apps, emails, files folder and other locations are all searched simultaneouslyđ ... a list of locations that contain your keyword will appear and from there you can tap the one youâre looking for and it will take you directly to that file, conversation, email etc... itâs been a true life saver for me more times than I can count! P.S. this also works in the photos app, click on the magnifying glass and type a keyword for the photo your looking for. You can search by subject in the photo, color, day, year, date, season, holiday, location, person, gender, etc... for example if I need to quickly find a photo of a family I downloaded from the internet a long time ago, Iâll search the word âgroupâ or âfamilyâ or âpeopleâ .... you can play around with search terms and see what you get.. itâs usually very accurate ... another great time saver for me!

@X24mom X24momâ Thank you! That is way cool! I confess I don't use my iPad very often, but this tip will really make a difference. How nice of you to share.
