Lately when I post an image of a family member on FamilySearch I get the following message "Image currently unavailable (Forbidden)" and I am unable to view or tag the image. Why?

Usually this is because it is going through a "screening process"

    I agree - its a little confusing/misleading.

but after you upload - give it like 15 minutes - and then you should usually have no issue accessing the uploaded items.

I noticed this "Delay"; and, it seems to be relatively recent.

I raised this matter in a post, Yesterday, in the 'Group' of "FamilySearch.org Feedback", in this Forum.

This 'Message' of "! Image currently unavailable (Forbidden)" is starting to wear thin; and, is getting rather annoying ....

Yes. The wording is confusing. The screening process seems to be taking much longer than it used to. Having to wait 15 minutes after uploading each photo before being able to tagging it seems rather excessive.

please note however you can upload entire batches of items all in one batch.

you dont need to wait on successive uploads until the 1st upload gets out of screening mode.

I have actually uploaded more than 100 items on a single batch upload.

. . . . BUT to do a large batch upload (of more than like 5 items) - you have to upload it to an album first, instead of directly to the person - and then after it is in the album - then doing the tagging. (which in my processing is much more efficient)

I remember you tell me about that @Dennis J Yancey  and that’s great info... I tried to do that the other day, but it only uploaded certain photos... and skipped others. I’m still trying to figure out why this happened

try it in smaller batches first and see what your results are

and realize you have to group JPG's in one batch and PDF's in a different batch.

also note you can reattempt the same large upload - and it will let you know that a given item was already uploaded - and only actually load the ones it didnt upload the 1st time.

also my experience with this has been on a computer - I dont have any idea how well this large batching works on a smart phone.

. . . also if you are doing large batches - you cannot leave the processing page - until all files have been completely uploaded - if you do - then yes - not all of them will get uploaded.

But like I said - you simply try it again - and the system is smart enough to detect what was already loaded and not load it a 2nd time.
