Please excuse my ignorance; but, where is "Canada Eng"?
Do you mean "Canada"?
Or, do you mean "England"?
If, in "England"; then, "Civil Registration" was around in 1852; so, what are the "Names" involved?
If, you want assistance; then, you need to provide more information ...
Brett, That's a very good question that I had myself. I discovered his birthplace on a census record. So I googled "Canada Eng". This is what I found: Depending on the time period the terms can be different, also the boundries may vary slightly BUT generally:
CAN ENG = CAN WEST = Upper Canada =Ontario
CAN FR = CAN EAST = Lower Canada = Quebec
That makes sense.
I must admit I was surmising some such.
Although, I have been to "Canada"; and, have researched there; as, I have some Ancestry there, I am not proficient; so, I will concede; and, leave your matter to someone more knowledgeable.
Again, more "Details" (ie. Names, etc) are required - so someone can provide assistance to you.
I am sorry, I cannot be of assistance.
