I like to do a Google Search for the places that my ancestors lived. Sometimes, I find interesting historical information that helps me to understand life during the time that my family lived there.
Two centuries of photographs- The rare photographs covers two centuries of Cheadle history, dating back to the 1860s and include early pictures of Abney Hall, Cheadle High Street and the historic St Mary's parish church: https://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/in-your-area/pictures-two-centuries-cheadle-caught-7951487

Elaine, my apologies for a slow response. I am not sure what pamphlet you are talking about, but I suddenly realized what you might be referring to! Do you mean the Research Outline for England?

or maybe one of the other outlines:

I've seen FS pages with all kinds of information about places but can't find it for Cheadle, Cheshire, England. I will want to do more research on other places in England. The Church used to put out pamphlets for research but changed quite awhile ago to online resources for places. I want to help my husband research his ancestors homelands and put that information on memories for each ancestors so that our grandchildren will be able to know what their life was like.

Oh! A friend told me to look at FamilySearch and click on Books and put Cheadle in the search and I found a great book there. This still is not what I was thinking of with putting in a place name and many resources showing up like we had in the pamphlets in our Family History Center. I have seen that on FS but can't find it now. If you could direct me to what to click on in order to find that kind of information I would really appreciate it. Thank you.

Thank you for these answers. Unfortunately, I had already gone to the wiki on FS and Wikipedia & the FS Catalog and Google... I'm looking for the information put onto the pamphlets that were in each FH Center at the Stakes, etc. in the late 20th century. They included many helps for researching different areas and a history was in each one, as well, however they probably wouldn't have had each shire in England's history. I would still like to know how to get to that information. It was digitized an the pamphlet made obsolete to make room for more compters and other things. I have seen that page (with many links on it) on FS recentlly and can't find it now. Do you know how to get to it?
Thanks again,
Elaine
