someone is making changes to my fam tree info. wrong changes.

I have no idea who John Duncan Clay is. I just received info from Family Search that this person has made wrong changes to my family tree on both sides. As time permits, I continue to sort out a complex family history. One example is a great grandfather was married to a woman who brought children to that union. They had children and then she died. Thereafter, he married her oldest daughter, a member of his household but unrelated by blood to him. They then had children together. Their trek started in Scotland. There's more about how the immigration individuals were related to one another. Immediate family info from both sides has been tampered with by this individual. No time to check how bad it is but the info I received is wrong. Laurel Ruth Brownlee (Howard & Howard-Boardman)

I totally understand the premise of your post ...

    .

    Now ...

    That said ...

    .

"Family Tree" of "FamilySearch" is built on a "Open Edit" Platform - hence, why ANY registered User/Patron can "Edit" (ie. Add, Delete; and/or, Change) ANY "Deceased" individual/person in "Family Tree" of "FamilySearch".

    .

We DO NOT, own; or, manage; and, are NOT even responsible for, the "Deceased" individuals/person in "Family Tree" of "FamilySearch" - EVEN if, we "Created" them; and/or, they are our immediate Family or just an Ancestor.

    .

"Collaboration" is what "FamilySearch" is about.

    .

In your case, have you tried to "Collaborate" with the other User/Patron?

    .

But, remember, they often ignore such 'Messages' or 'Discussions'; or, just go ahead and do what they want anyway, regardless of what you have suggested/discussed/requested.

    .

That I afraid is 'human nature' ...

    .

If your "Collaboration" between yourself; and, another User/Patron, it at a 'stalemate'; then, you could submit a 'Support' Case for assistance from "FamilySearch" to "Moderate"; but, such does not always work in one's favour.

    .

Here is a "Knowledge Articles" in "FamilySearch":

    .

How do I report changes or problems made by other contributors?

    https://www.familysearch.org/help/salesforce/viewArticle?urlname=Reporting-problems-created-by-users-of-the-new-FamilySearch-or-Family-Tree-program-1381815122459&lang=en_US

    .

I hope this helps, just a little.

    .

When things are complicated then more sources, notes and reason statements should be used. I like the Life Sketch area for some complicated things, you could write something about the father as you described. The better source and easy to find the information and story the less likely changes will happen.

Also reach out to the person making the changes. Use the message system and ask them about the changes and share what information you know. All different levels of users participate in FamilySearch and often we need to be teaching others. Present the facts to this person and try to work together to fix. Usually when presented, kindly with the facts most people will stop changing and depending on their level of comfort fix things or say sorry can you fix it. But they usually will stop changing.

Be patient and try to work together, that is the design of this collaborative tree.
