How are ancestors of step-parents handled?

How are ancestors of step-parents handled?

I received a hint for an obituary for a person. When I click on "see relationship", he is shown as an uncle to the father of my grandmother. However, the 'father' is actually the third husband of my grandmother's mother, i.e., her step-father. My grandmother is the child of her mother and her mother's first husband. I feel as if I should only include the first husband and his ancestors in my family tree. Is this correct?

    its kind of up to you

    but realize it's not just "your family tree"

    (its all one massive database that we all share collaboratively - what ever you update will be the same set of records that others will see when they look at this family.
