Creating a source based on an external website

I found a few of my relatives on an external site listing names on a war memorial, so created a source for it (https://www.familysearch.org/en/tree/sources/viewedit/7BJJ-TX1). As there are a lot of other names on this site, it's possible other users might want to add these to the description and attach it to other people - although they could of course just create their own sources instead.

As a beginner on FamilySearch, I'm wondering whether I've created the source in the best way? Is it possible to make the description easier to read if it gets longer, e.g. by making the names into links like on some other sources?

Thanks,

@pfclayson I think the source you created looks good. In my opinion, the object of the source is to make it clear where others can find the original. You've accomplished that.

I'm sure others will chime in with their thoughts, too!

@pfclayson HI! As ShelleWells stated you sourced it wonderfully!

There is a way to link that source to the other members of his family that were mentioned in the source.

If you click on your own profile picture on the top right of Reuben Ralph Crew's person page, you can then see a drop down menu with "Source Box" listed. Click on that link and you will find all of your sources listed together. Scroll down to the War Memorial Source and on the right side of the source listing, you can "Attach" that source to anyone else that is listed in the Memorial! That way it will be in each person's source list.

Thankyou both for the feedback. I have already attached this source to the five people I've listed, but I was wondering whether the links can also be added into the text, as you sometimes see in other sources. I think these are probably just in sources set up by FamilySearch themselves though.

@pfclayson The Source you created is a resource that can only be used by you to add to associated FamilyTree profiles just like you did for the five PIDs shown. But I can't directly use the 'Luton War Memorial' Source you created. But thanks to your link I can create my own 'Roll of Honour — Luton War Memorial' Source with it's related link and Notes and attach to associated PIDs.

In my opinion your Source looks good and has all the important element/details. I might have added a 'Birth' tag

Adding/sharing resources like this one helps everyone…

Ah, I assumed that once a source had been created, anyone else would be able to edit or extend it. Hence my original question about trying to make it future proof. Good point about the Birth tag, I've now added that to the attachments. Thanks.

Be aware though that I can Edit the Source you created and even Detach the Source, but not directly reuse it
