Changes in Full Text Search - counties?

I understand it is a WIP and all but I was enjoying using it ,,, until today. Before, the way you changed search limits was fast and required few keystrokes. Today it got more complicated and more work to use (and you can't make the sidebar go away). My real question is - before I could limit down to the county level. Now I can only go down to the state level. Did I miss some knob or lever? :-) Thanks.
