"This image is unavailable for online viewing at this time."
Hi,
I'm receiving this error message when attempting to access several image records. Most notably, these two:
https://www.familysearch.org/en/search/image/index?owc=https://www.familysearch.org/service/cds/recapi/collections/2140223/waypoints
https://www.familysearch.org/en/search/collection/1932363
These were both accessible to me just a couple weeks ago, so I'm not sure what changed. This has been happening with most of the digital image collections I've been attempting to reach. Is there any way I can make some headway with this error?
Best,
Yann

@yannkemper I can tell you that in June 2025, new data privacy laws in Brazil required that FamilySearch de-publish all images that could have data for living people. I believe there was actually a post about this here that gave more details as far as date ranges that were newly restricted.

This issue has been linked to two main reasons in the past. Firstly, a contractual one - whereby permissions might have been suddenly withdrawn so that the restriction could be a permanent one. Alternatively, there might just be a glitch and the message is being displayed in error.
I believe a mod will need to pass this on to see into which category these specific examples fall. Unfortunately any reasons relating to contractual issues will never be shared by FamilySearch, as they are considered to be confidential (between FamilySearch and the external record provider).

Ah, that certainly explains it. Thanks for the update, and thank you both for the response.
