limit on the number of items one can upload in a single upload batch

is there any response from the engineers
as to why we are limited to such a small number of items that can be uploaded in a single batch? Like 5 items or so.
There used to be no real limit - other than system resources.

Are the engineers planning on making a change to this soon?
