I have tagged names that are joined together that I cannot fix.

This problem began with the feature "Attach to another tree" There was no help support, but I thought I would give it a try.

I have been tagging my grandparents Evan Justin Skidmore KWCT-MML & Eleanor Lyman KWCT-MMG

After adding a tag to one of them I got the pop- up that indicated I could add to another tree. I thought I would give that a try. The results have been that when I tried to tag Eleanor she came up with the tag name of Evan. That happened on subsequent efforts to tag new pictures.

I tried removing all tags and deleting and reinstalling the memory. It did not work.

I called support they had me use the pop-up in the center of the picture, click on the blue tag name and change it to Eleanor. No anything I tagged with my Grandfather's name now reads Eleanor Lyman. Things other people tagged seem to be fine.

They suggested I clear my cache and cookies, but that can't be the problem because the same problem shows up on my husband's computer.

How do I separate these two "trees" There is no support for this problem.

I don't think this issue has anything to do with the "Attach to Another Tree" option.

I think this has to do with a recent issue that has been cropping up in Memories….

Recently, the Engineers made changes to the User Interface, and some tag names are reverting to what that tag name once was. What you are seeing now is probably an original version of that tag name. Strange tag names can also occur if two individuals were merged together over time.

What Support told you is correct. If you see a difference in the Tag names when you look at the Tag pop-up box, simply click the name in blue. A new page will come up. The tag name will be large and blue at the top of the page. Click it, change the tag name, and save your changes.

I am not sure what you mean about "separating these two trees." Again, I think it is a tag name issue, not a tree issue.

Feel free to respond and we'll see if this is able to help you or not.

However, if you are clicking on "Attach to Another Tree," and you see an option for "Evan," that might be the name of a Family Group….is this what you mean?

    I disagree with your opinion.

The mess got bigger when I did change the name in blue.

I solved the problem with the help of my husband. He went in and tagged people correctly and then I removed the tag I had added. We have corrected the Evan Skidmore tags. If I had changed the name as you suggested, I would have had to correct the Eleonor tags.

I am no longer able to tag my grandparents correctly, but I only have a few more memories to add.

Thanks for your thoughts on this question.

Yes, your husband has been sharing information with me.

You (and others) can read more about this discussion in the Memory Feedback Group.

I am going to review this with the Memories team and see if we can sort out a better answer.

Thank you, though, for posting and sharing this information. We hope it will be able to help other users. And thank you for the wonderful work you are doing by adding to the FamilySearch tree!
