I have a marriage record that I need help translating. I think the bride was just widowed 3 1/2 months ago after being married for 11 years. She has a child under the age of 1 who probably has siblings. Magdalena Hornung has record# KZ9G-J4L.

    Hi @Susan Moore_24.

This does appear to be a marriage record. I recommend looking at this post. In summary, there's some great resources here on FamilySearch to help you, but posting in the country-specific group is the best way to get help with these records:

    https://community.familysearch.org/en/discussion/175131/help-with-records-in-latin

Since you've been waiting a while, I attempted to translate using Google... A few words gave trouble though. 😅 Perhaps with some more time and using the things mentioned in the post above, you can fill the rest out. In particular, I couldn't tell what the town was that Martin lived in, so posting to the https://community.familysearch.org/en/group/88-germany-research group could clear that up (perhaps also getting a better translation!).

In the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety-one, on the seventeenth day of January, three public proclamations were made for the intended marriage, and without any impediment, the dimissorials were obtained by the parish priest of the groom Martin Maisch.

Martin Maisch is a citizen of (E??lingenweiha??) only son???

Magdalena ?of? Jacob Soeser, I questioned the widow, ?I have spoken before her?? I hereby solemnize the marriage with the following witnesses: Michaele? Soeser and Joseph ??? citizens.

Thank you to both of you, I did not realize that one record could include the proclamations and the marriage. I had never seen the name of the town before because these records are in the marriage and family books for St. Joseph Church in Gaggenau.

Every time I try to register by clicking on the register button, I do not get a chance to register. I have had a FamilySearch account for years just not a Community Account. I will call again and see if I can get it created.

    Thanks for the help.
