What does the Family crest
As family search has found many of my ancestors and obviously there's no photos from the 1400, 1500 and so forth. But there is a or what looks like a crest or a shield or some type of logo instead of a photo. I'm interested to know how do I find out what they mean. On one of those crests.
It is not a shield but there is a Menorah and the star of David above it. It interests me because it was 3 generations. On that side of the family it is all Native American. that's why I am so intrigued to find out what it is.

How a Family Crest or Coat of Arms Leads to Family Discovery
here’s an article that may be helpful:0 -
Some users like to put some type of symbol for the portrait when no photo is available. Usually I've just seen a flag. It seems they tend to use the same symbol for one branch of direct ancestors whether it really pertains to profile it is on or not. Whether this is a good practice or not is debatable. Historically, crests and shields belonged to an individual, not a family, so putting the same one on more than one person really isn't accurate.
Why someone put the Menorah and star of David on some of your family can probably only be answered by the person who put it there. There isn't any notation of who that would have been but most likely it was one of the contributors to the profile. You might have to message every user who shows in the change log and ask each one if it was that user and why it was done.
