How do I add a picture to an audio recording?

I've tried adding album art to an MP3 file via mp3tag; the album art works fine in File Explorer and Media Player on Windows, but if I upload the MP3 as a Memory the image doesn't show up there, only the audio.
I've also tried converting an audio file + background image to an MP4 video, but that seems to be an unsupported file format for Memories.
So, not sure you can do this - @AmberML1 can you help please?

You can record 5 minutes of audio to a photo or document (image file, not a pdf) you uploaded.

I have just tried a combination of @Miss Jessie's idea and one of my favourite bits of free-of-charge Windows software (more accurately 'donationware') to record my MP3 from Media Player direct into my Photo Memory without loss of audio quality.
Clearly this is limited to 5 minutes but hopefully it provides a potential solution for anything shorter than that.
The software I use is a 'Virtual Audio Device' called VBCABLE, see https://vb-audio.com/Cable/. You play your audio through its 'input' device instead of your speakers, and record using its 'output' device instead of your microphone.
I am sure there are audio 're-routing' solutions other than VB-CABLE, but it has solved a load of problems for me in the past and is easy to install. It works on Windows versions from XP to 11 and there also appears to be a Mac version.

I have audio recordings already on memories that I'd like to attach a picture to. But I don't know how.

You can't attach a picture to an audio recording. You can only do it the other way around — you can add an audio to a picture. Note that you have to be the contributor of the photo to do that (you can't attach audio to other people's photos).

Boringly you probably need to create a new memory from the photo, add the audio to it (assuming less than 5 mins), give it all the same tags and metadata, then remove the original memory.
You may like to complete a Suggest an Idea form on this (keep a copy, as they currently disappear from the submitter's view, though we are assured they are reviewed by the relevant teams).

THANK you for helping me out here!

I got this to work kind of. It shows up in the memory app but not the familysearch memories nor on my desktop.

Also, I'm getting several photos on the site that are so large. What is the recommended size of a picture so I'm seeing the entire picture attached to a story rather than just a closeup of a portion of it?

@AmberML1 can you perhaps help with @JanGarbett1's two outstanding points above, please (memory showing in app but not in browser, and image size recommendation)?

You asked:

In response to that particular questions, this is a known issue.
When you open a Story that has an image/Memory attached to it, the image is enlarged to fit the full space above the Story. The image is oriented to focus on the CENTER of the image, which is why the top half can appear to be cut off. (I know, this can be annoying for me as well!)
All I can really offer for an answer is. . . This is working as designed. Engineers are aware.
See our Memory Feedback Group for more information. From there you can find other known issues and get further help.
Thanks for the feedback!

As for your question regarding not seeing your updates immediately in your browser, this is another known issue. Often, to see all the updates (especially to a Story), you will need to clear/refresh your browser history.
Hope these help!

I really appreciate getting a response. It does still leave a question in my mind-Is known issue code for “working to improve it” or “this is what you need to expect. If so, can I get some aspect rations or tips for how I can adjust it prior to uploading so it appears as I’d hope to see it?
Mandy- you are kind to summon help for me.

In this case, the "known issue" unfortunately means, this is what you need to expect.
I will say, the way the image appears when attached to a Story is a frequent challenge shared by many. So it might change eventually.
For now, I'm just grateful I have access to a free product that helps me with my Family History research.
Best wishes!
