If a marriage record has grandparents names how do we add that to the indexing fields?

Marriage projects usually only have fields for the parties and their parents. If grandparents are mentioned, they wouldn't be indexed since there are no fields to index grandparents.

My reply to a similar recent question (about children, in that case) applies equally here: indexing is not transcribing. There will always be details in the document that aren't indexed.

Yes there is a way to highlight and add the grandparents names in the record. It lets you select the relative category, highlight the name, and then I get stuck because I don’t want to mess anything up. It’s not clear how to save it so I came here to look for an answer. Keep searching because I know you can fix it. Hopefully, I can confirm how to do that last part soon.

The question was about an indexing project, not how to add information to records. Indexing parameters are set in the contract between FS and the record holder and fields cannot be added to a project.

Please check out "Fix errors in historical record transcriptions or indexes". You can view a short video and see basic information. Check out the related articles at the end of the article. You can call FamilySearch @ 866 406-1830 and then 4. This will connect you to trained Historical Record helpers. Good Luck it can be a little tricky. Also, you can add the information to the description when you attach the records to people in FamilySearch.
