Why has the drop-down box been moved on the FIND pages?

I think this has been raised before, but just can't trace the earlier thread.
I was thinking there was no longer a way to standardise a placename when using FIND, then suddenly found the drop-down for selecting the place in question is now placed right at the bottom of the screen of my monitor - I'm sure it must have been popping up off the bottom, as I had not noticed it there at all until today.
Please could a moderator escalate this for a fix, if this has not happened already.

I noticed it was WAY down the page one day recently, and I use 34 inch monitor. I'm sure those using smaller screens or SmartPhones are wondering where that option went.

Interesting. I tried this on Chrome, Edge, and Firefox, and the places dropdown always appeared immediately below the entry field for the place, just as it always has. I wonder why I'm having a different experience.
UPDATE: Okay, I see that it happens when you have the MORE OPTIONS expanded. That's the key.
Another interesting side note: in the Search Records interface, which is a similar, but clearly different context, the places dropdown appears in the proper place all the time.1 -
It's not just Find: Add Child has the boxes popping back and forth between "off the bottom somewhere" and "up top".
(Win10, Firefox.) Don't think it makes any difference, but this was "add child with unknown mother".

Yes, I am having the same experience as with both Julia's and Alan's examples. The example Julia illustrates also needs to be fixed of course, but at least it isn't right at the bottom, or even off the bottom of the page: as is the case (as Áine has worked out) if you're not working with a large enough screen! Until today, I had thought the drop-down menu must have been removed (by accident or design) from the FIND page(s).

I added this problem of the bouncing place list in the Find screen to a discussion, Searching for people in FamilySearch, on January 12; @Paul W, that may be what you saw. That discussion was about a different problem with the Find screen, but I thought that maybe both issues could be addressed at the same time. I ended up flagging that discussion with a request for it to be reviewed, but that didn't get any response.
On January 24, I also posted a discussion, Creating a profile - date and place popups misbehaving, about the similar issue with the screen that is used to add a profile. A moderator responded to that one, saying that the engineers are aware of the problem.

I've seen this a lot too and on my small low resolution screen a small part of the box is present at the bottom of the display but the rest is not. It's very confusing indeed.
'The engineers are aware of the problem' is inadequate (not just for this issue - it seems to be a standard response). What priority are they putting on it, and when is it likely to be fixed?

Thanks for all of your comments and reporting the issues that you are seeing. I am working toward finding a resolution and will get some answers back to you as soon as possible. With vacations and illness- I am very short-staffed this week and we are struggling to keep up. Hang in there with us and we will be in touch. Thanks for your patience and understanding!
