What happened to the Find function?

In recent weeks when searching the World Tree > Find by ID, it does not work after clicking Reset and putting in a subsequent ID.

It gives me a cute picture and this message: "Search for Your Ancestors. Begin by entering what you know. Add a person's name, a life event, family members, or other record options. We'll show you everything we can find that meets that criteria."

This function used to work just fine for repeated searches. If the function is supposed to be changed, why have a Reset button?

This bug was reported early this month in this post, along with some other disimprovements that suddenly appeared in the Find by ID and Find by Name functions. Thus far, it hasn't attracted any response from FS.

The Reset button just clears the existing ID, which doesn't change the behaviour that you are seeing. It's the same button that you will see if you switch to Find by Name in the side panel; it's more useful there because there may be a lot more criteria to clear.

For Find By ID, I suggest you switch to using either the box at the top of the Recents menu, or to simply replacing the ID at the end of the URL on an open profile that you're done with.

(I don't have any suggestions for the weird behaviors of Find By Name.)

Thanks for the workaround and, yes, the problem described in that previous post is exactly what I've been experiencing. (Sorry I didn't see the previous post before I started a new thread.)

I use the Find by ID box hundreds of times every week (with the reset button) and haven't had any recent problem. The only time I had a problem in the past, was when there was a space before the ID and I would get the "Search for Your Ancestors" screen.
