Relationship Viewer Change?
Hello,
The Relationship viewer used to show relationships that included my wife's family. For example, my wife would show as my spouse. Now she shows as my 15th cousin.
I just created my first Family Group, and am wondering if this was a result of that process, or if it is a global change affecting everyone.
If the latter, does anyone know if this change was intentional and will it be permanent? I don't see any notification in the help resources.
I greatly preferred the previous algorithm and would love to see that option made available again.

See
Note in particular Gordon Collet's summary that:
The way the source linker treats relationships through ones spouse, if I recall correctly, has switched back and forth a couple of times since it was released. From the comments that always get posted after a change, there seem to be two camps of opinion among users: 1) Those who ask, as you do, why doesn't the routine show me related to my in-laws through my wife? 2) Those who ask, why does the routine show me related to my in-laws through my wife? I am already fully aware of that obvious relationship. I want to know if I am related to them in any way.
It appears that we have switched again recently, so yes, it is a global change.

Thank you! The thread was an interesting read, particularly the suggestions for different layouts.
I'm still curious if this is to be a permanent change, or if there are any plans for further modifications.

@SerraNola sorry to bother you again but would it be possible to get clarity from the developers re @JeffHu's question in the previous comment, please?

@MandyShaw1 @JeffHu As for this thread, the FamilySearch team responsible for the changes in the Relationship Calculator are aware of concerns voiced here in the Community and the value of having the relationship viewer show the shortest path. This is not a team I have contact with so I'm sorry I don't know any more than that.

Many thanks as always for your prompt response @SerraNola, could you perhaps pass the question to whoever of your mod colleagues is responsible for liaison with that team, please?
