Looking for information re: Mary J Rudisill
I am looking for more information on one of my father's wives Mary J. Rudisill. In the 1950 Census she was married to Edward Stanley Rudisill and they were living in El Monte, California. It says she was from PA but I can find nothing else about her. Can anyone shed light on her or point me in the right direction? Thank you.

Edward Stanley Rudisill was also listed as from Pennsylvania.
Not exactly what you asked for, but sometimes we have to look at collateral connections before we find the family.
In the 1940 census, Edward S Rudisill was married to Naomi. Edward married Naomi Noel in 1934. I found a newspaper notice of their wedding and a marriage record. In March 1950, Edward applied for Pennsylvania Veteran's Benefits. The names of 3 children are also listed. He was listed as living in Los Angeles at that time.
I found a 1957 death certificate for Naomi Rudisill, listing Edward as her spouse.
Maybe something to give you a start, and I'll try to look more later.

Yes. You filled in the blanks about Naomi and their marriage and her death. I knew some about her as I know my half sister Anna. The '50 Census with Mary J. threw me for a loop as I had know idea of that marriage. Any more info about Mary...her maiden name, where they were married, anything will be most greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Edward married twice more, I believe. I don't have anything specific on Mary yet, but I'll keep looking.

After he was married to Naomi, I was told he married a woman named Sterner, Katherine or Kathryn or Catherine. Not sure. Info on her would be appreciated. He also married my mother Lois Thorpe (Moore) in 1966. Still didn't know anything about Mary J. Thank you so much for all you can tell me.

Catherine, d.1966, is listed on his Find a Grave entry (source present on his FT profile), and her own Find a Grave entry has a newspaper obit for her on it.
I've also searched for Mary J on the Census Tree in Genealogies but, unsurprisingly given it stops at the 1940 census and we don't know her maiden name, I didn't find anything.

Could this NUMIDENT perhaps be Mary? https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:6K9K-FZYK
(It seems to me that the 1950 census middle initial is not obviously anything.)

An obituary for a sister of Catherine confirms the maiden name of Sterner -

@MandyShaw1 According to that Mary's 2004 obituary, her husband was named Richard, so I think it's a different person.

The birth date (1915) looked a bit far out, I admit, but I thought it was worth mentioning, especially as the FT profile attached to that NUMIDENT had no spouse on it.

Edward entered the Army in 1945. If he married Mary during his service, her name should appear in his military records.
It's also possible they were living together without being married.

Thank you everyone for your help. Still trying to find info on Mary J. Odd there's no paper trail for her.

Do you have Edward's military records, @Barbara29500? That's a place I would look. They are not difficult to obtain.

I will find his papers and check it out. Thank you for all your help.

The 1950 census was enumerated in April. Edward's Pennsylvania Veteran's Compensation is dated May 1950 and does not mention a wife. Just connecting the dots - it's possible Edward and Mary were not married or not yet married at the time of the census.
