Theory - John Vadas SR.
Hello! Not finding much on John (Joannes) Vadas SR [GYQ3-9JM] but I think that I have found his parents Julianna Lakatos & Joannes Vadas. I am looking for his wife, also not found. (Added mom there accidently)
Can someone prove my theory correct or help me disprove it? Hungarian records are proving hard to find. Perhaps post on the Austria-Hungarian community board?
Thank you!

Please, yes, post on the Austro-Hungarian Research group.

According to the last record on that persons profile, he was born on 26 July 1874 and died 1 March 1942. This record you state as his birth in 1852 is 22 years off. I would say that's incorrect. Unless of course that death information is wrong but I think you have more research you need to do there.
Remember, more than one person will have that name in Hungary. You will find János Vadas and also Joannes Vadas as being possibilities.
Also don't assume that Family Search indexed the written records correctly as they are written. They don't always get those spot on. I'd say there is probably a 65%-70% accuracy with the system that scans through those documents and attempts to index the information. I make tons of edits when I see that they are needed.
You may need to think outside the box for other spellings of the surname as well.
Also, what he said his birthdate was in the USA may not be right with the books too. Many people didn't know that information or were slightly off with it so you really have to pinpoint and know exactly where your folks came from to be able to verify them 100% and get the real information out of the church books.
I just did a quick search and didn't really come up with much but you also have to realize that Austria-Hungary is a grey area and covered lots of ground. There are a lot of modern day smaller countries that were part of that so you could be looking in Slovakia, Hungary, Serbia, Croatia, etc.
Good luck. I have tons of experiance with this area but knowing what I know with my own families from this region I have learned a lot.
