How do I get a person who doesn't exist deleted?

This person doesn't exist. No birth date, no death date no nothing. The records that are attached for H. Kranish is his father. I know some of what would be his nephews if he was real. But he isn't and it won't let me delete this fraud.

In an open-edit environment like the shared Family Tree, it makes sense that users can't come along and delete another user's contributions wholesale. However, this does not mean that you can't get rid of profiles for nonexistent people.

I haven't looked at the specifics, but in general, there are two scenarios: the profile has a single contributor with no edits by anyone else, or it has multiple contributors. If it's the former, you can try contacting that contributor via FamilySearch's internal messaging (which is now called "chat"), and ask him or her to delete the profile. If that doesn't work within a timeframe you consider reasonable, or if the profile has been edited by more than one user, then you can figure out which real person the profile is a mistake for, and merge-delete it into that profile. (In my experience, mistakes about existing people account for nearly all "nonexistent person" profiles. The only exceptions would be things like Donald Duck, which are a whole 'nother kettle of fish.)

Hi @jack straw_1. Looking at the draft record, "H" should be "Mrs. H Kranish". It was erroneously named, marked male, and then incorrectly linked as her child.

To fix this will require a merge. First, edit "H" to female, as the record belongs to Selma and will need to match. This can be done by clicking the pencil icon on H's page.

To merge the two, go to Selma's page, then scroll down to "Tools" on the right side, and then click "Merge by ID". Enter the ID of "H", which is GTPM-73W. Then, merge the two records together, preserving Selma's profile and only bringing over the draft record.

That should fix it, but let us know if you need more help.

    Several problems here:

    1. H Kranish (GTPM-73W) appears to be the same person as Hyman Kranish (GJN2-J8N)
    2. the source (WWII Draft Registration) attached to GTPM-73 belongs with Arthur Kranish not H Kranish
    3. delete the child/parent relationship between H Kranish (child) and Hyman Kranish (father)
    4. merge GTPM-73W "into" GJN2-J8N

    hope that helps.

    1. delete the child/parent relationship between H Kranish (child) and Hyman Kranish (father)
    2. merge GTPM-73W "into" GJN2-J8N

Thank you. That's what I did.
