Copyright Memories Submissions
I am having issues with Family Search restricting Newspaper.com Memories submissions. Before I ever started uploading them to Family Search, I made sure to contact Newspapers.com / Ancestry and the above was their response. Could you please inform those that are doing the restricting, that it is not against the rules, Thank you!

You can attach a newspaper clipping as a source, using the "share" option from newspapers.com. That way, you'll have no possible copyright issue and provide a better image for others to view.

I totally agree with jmladwig28 . . .
if Ancestry LLC (who owns Newspapers.com) says "its ok" - why do some FamilySearch admins still feel the need restrict access on items uploaded that came from Newspapers.com
(especially when US copyright law is quite clear - that pre 1923 items are in the public domain anyway)
I have had first hand experience with this issue of FS admins quite regularly overstepping their bounds on copy right and terms of use issues.
and on the side topic of "sources" I much prefer to upload items to Memories - and NOT only use the source method for the mere fact that "a link today - may not be a valid link tomorrow" . . . Surely the history of the Internet across the last two decades is a testimony of that. What good are all the sources 20 years from now when all the urls have changed . . .0 -
if you can share it to Facebook directly from newspapers.com……??????

And one more 'option' is to create a New Source with the name of the Newspaper and Date. Include link to the associated Newspaper.com page then manually transcribe the 'key' bits into the Notes section. Follow-up by adding this "new' Source to your Source Box. That way you can add this 'new' Source to any others that may be referenced in the article by fetching it from the Source Box. A bit more work but gives you more options and as was mentioned the url may be changed in another 50 years…

Now THAT is a very good reason. The internet isn't a completely static entity. Things change.
