For project US-City Directories, where would I put "Jr" in which field? I only have an option for spouse prefix, but isn't "Jr" a suffix? Additionally, this isn't for a spouse, but for the listed person (a male).

Hello, James! It's nice to meet you!

We don't enter suffix information in this particular category. As we are creating an index list, a person researching "John Smith" would be directed to all persons named John Smith and they would need to look at the actual directory to see who is the junior, who is the senior, and so on.

Can you imaging looking for a John Smith in all of the records that are available to us? Wowza! I have a similar problem - my mother's maiden name is Wilson, her mother's maiden name is Adams, and her mother's maiden name is Brown … it has been a challenge! But many volunteers have indexed documents that helped me to follow the correct lines, and that is the beauty in what we do.

I hope this information helps you.

Thank you @Cemetery Tramp for your answer - yes, nice to meet you and I appreciate your insight. I understand then that this "Jr" or "Sr" isn't something I should index then in this project. This is good to know as I enjoy this project and seeing quite a few of these examples.
