A new member of what? Do you mean a new member of the LDS Church?

If anyone wants an account on FamilySearch, they need to create one.

If you are a member of the Church, when opening your FamilySearch account, you will need to add your membership number otherwise it becomes a public account.

Good morning: Would you please clarify your original question. If you mean when you create your account do you automatically become a member of the larger FamilySearch community the answer is yes, if you registered (no church or religion required) then you have all the information available in FamilySearch ready for you to research. Information can be obtained at FamilySearch Create a FamilySearch Account
