Why did my record hints increase over 30 times more from one day to the next?
I had 43 record hints on my home page. So I worked on them and reduced them to 20. The next day when I signed in and I had over 600, 624 to be exact. There were so many it took me forever to scroll though them and I will never get thru them all. I have not tried to clear any of them and as of this writing there are 579. Why are there so many and why did they change? I have never in my 10 years plus as a member had record hints over 50, yes 50! What seem to be the problem? if there are that many record hints to work on then it is useless to even have this tool. Maybe there is a glitch in the website so if there is, ya need to get it fixed SOON.

Also remember that new records are being added to the database regularly. For example, just recently, a large number of "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Record of Members" were added. In my own genealogy, hundreds of new record hints were available from these records.

The more you work on a family, the more hints/research helps you will have. That's how the hinting system is designed. The bigger the tree becomes and the more record collections available, the more hints there will be.
No one is expected or required to clear the hints. We all work at our own pace with our own goals.

Honestly you are lucky to have the hints at all, there are big swathes of my New England family where I have nothing but head-of-household-plus-numbers censuses and some vague and/or incorrect references in printed genealogies to go on up to 1850, and the hinting algorithm can't realistically do anything much with those.
