missing links after a merge

I merged two duplicate records Nicholas Herkimer. After the merge the spouse link in "view relationship" states unknown (living person). So the descendant line is broken and show as an "uncle" when in fact is Polly Herkimer's father. I attached screenshot

Can no longer undo the merge. I don't know what the issue is. All family members are linked

Can you fix this error?

If any changes have been made to the profile AFTER the merge, then undo is not possible. Restore is still an option.

This is rather strange. Looking at the profile pages and pedigree charts, all the family relationships look just fine. I suspect it is just a temporary system glitch since in the relationship view Polly's actual mother was replaced by a generic "Living" person icon. This suggests that her mother Maria just did not load properly. Have you checked back to see if it is working now? If not, try the usual deleting of cookies and restarting your browser.

    Gordon -

thank you for your response. Unfortunately it is still the same. Somehow the the "link" between this couple is corrupted. Only thing that changed in merge of the two Nicholas files was part of info (dates),place was in french ex: Etas-Unis. I assume the records came from Cananda? not sure how to fix this issue

Like Gordon, I cannot see anything wrong with this family; the Details pages of all of the people show Nicholas Herkimer KZ2S-KFV and Maria Coppernoll KZYT-PZ4 as the parents of Polly Calista Herkimer LZLV-D2D, with no sign of an erroneously-living profile messing anything up.

Maria's parents are shown as John Coppernoll 2778-4DS and Gertrude Dygert 2778-8G8; the latter is a sister to Dorothea Dygert K2HG-2Z6, the mother of Nicholas. I wonder if the cousin marriage is somehow confusing the Show Relationship algorithm? (It shouldn't; I'm grasping at straws.)

In any case, I don't think there's anything wrong with the merge or the profiles. The problem is somewhere in the Show Relationship function — which of course I can't test, being completely unrelated to these people.

    A few diagnostic questions:

Did the relationship show properly before the merge?

What browser are you using? Could it be a browser compatibility issue? (I have to say that I quite like the look of your browser as seen in the image you posted. It looks very clean and uncluttered.)

When you look at Nicholas's profile page do you see one or two marriages for him? When you look at Polly's page, do you see one or two mothers for her?

I guess the real question is, is there really a living profile for Polly's mother that is showing up in the relationship view? None of us would be able to see that living person in any other view. I can't find an example right now, but I think the relationship view is the one exception to not being to see living people at all since you have to have some type of place holder for living people in the relationship chain and it's not really a breach of privacy to show that someone has a mother and father.

Is the situation that (to edit your image):

Only the person who created that living copy of Maria or an administrator would be able to fix such a situation.

thank you for your further response. the link was fine until I did a merge of duplicate records. The only difference being the vital info (dates were in french) maybe canadian family search user. I ended up restoring merge, correcting vital dates to english and doing another merge. Happy to say all links are working again. Some glitch in the language /merge. Who knows. Appreciate your helpful responses

Glad you got this fixed. It's hard to think the language difference causing any trouble but a internet or server hiccup during the merge could certainly cause problems.

Thanks for both posting about it and your solution. It's sure to come up again. Next time this community will be able give a useful answer!
