How can an individual research their bloodline

How can an individual research their natural bloodline when her birth mother is not helpful. Her grandmother is alive but knows nothing of the father.

This individual is an adult and knows the state and town she was born. Adoption was arranged before she was born.

    @William Lloyd Peterson A DNA test would probably be the best way to solve this. The DNA matches may help piece together the paternal line. If assistance is needed from there, there's groups that can help people sort through the data and put together a family tree.

    There are also support groups/organizations such as Search Angels that assist adoptees and others who don't know their origins.
