One thing that is not mentioned in the instructions is that you will probably have to sign in again when you click Account.

Julian, This link you gave above last October now is no longer valid. Do you have any other options on changing an email address?

To change your email address on FamilySearch, you can: 

1. Sign in to your FamilySearch account 
2. Click your name in the top right corner 
3. Click Settings 
4. Click the Contact tab 
5. Click inside the email box and update your email address 
6. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Save Changes
