Hi Julia,
When searching up names of family members, and relatives I'm guessing as you mentioned i find their historical records. Some names that ive picked up while searching had PID which i could use and others only say link to tree no PID's that i can use to attach to my tree.. Hope this makes sence and thanks for the help as I am new to this site and still learning

If you found their profiles on the FamilySearch Tree (FSFT), each profile has a Profile Identifier near the name.
You'll see the profile for one of my 3rd great-grandfathers here. His PID is LHJ8-NZQ, just under his name and also at the end of the URL that leads to his profile: https://www.familysearch.org/tree/person/details/LHJ8-NZQ
An important reminder - there is no my tree or your tree on FS. There is a single, collaborative tree for all of us to work on together. It is meant to have a single profile for each person who has ever lived.
Happy researching!

When you say "I found", what exactly are you referring to? If they're Family Tree profiles, then as Áine says, they each have a PID. It sounds to me, though, like what you've found is perhaps some indexes of historical records about those people, not their profiles. Any chance of some clarification? (I don't want to write up nice long instructions for something you don't need.)

Ah, you're coming up against the difference between index entries that the hinting system has and hasn't found. The presentation can be confusing in multiple aspects, so don't feel bad that you haven't figured it out.
I think of FS as two main components: Family Tree and Historical Records. These are independent of each other, but they are connected in various ways by all sorts of "assistant" components, such as Source Linker and the hinting system.
If the hinting system has found a possible match between a Family Tree profile and an indexed Historical Record, then when you look at the index detail page, there is a "Possible Tree Match" at the top of the right-hand column, and the entry on a Search - Records result list will have the Source Linker button/link. (In most places, the icon for Source Linker is a paperclip, but on search results lists, it's a circle above the top half of a slightly larger circle, and has a misleading tooltip of "View possible tree matches".)
If the hinting system has not found a possible match between a Tree profile and an index entry, then the index detail page just has the blue "Attach To Tree" button at the top of the right-hand column, and there's no Source Linker button/icon for that line of the search results list.
While the hinting system is very good, it is not infallible: it gives both false positives (hints for the wrong profile) and false negatives (no hint when there is a matching profile).
For true positives (matches that you believe to be correct), you can just click one of the buttons/links for Source Linker and proceed to make the connection using the tool. If there are immediate relatives in the index who do not have corresponding profiles in the Tree, you can even use Linker to create profiles for them.
For false positives (matches that you believe to be incorrect), you can invoke Linker as above, but then use the "Change Person" drop-down on the right-hand (Tree) side to tell it "no, not that profile". You'll need the profile ID of the correct profile to proceed (see below).
For false negatives (lack of a hint when you believe you have the corresponding profile), go to the index detail page and click the blue button. Source Linker will open with a right-hand panel where you can put in the ID of the matching profile.
For true negatives (no hint because there really isn't a profile yet for that person), you can't use Linker with that person as focus. However, if there are other people in the index for the same event or household, then you can check each of those people for an existing Tree profile, and if there is one, you can invoke Source Linker from that person in the index, and then add the relatives via Linker.
To get a profile ID when the hinting system or Source Linker aren't supplying it, you'll need to use one of the components of FS that look at the Tree: Family Tree - Find (or Search - Family Tree, which is the same thing), or one of the other choices under Family Tree (such as Tree, for a chart view) to navigate to the person (or an immediate relative) in the Tree. Once you've found the right name, you can click the ID (hyphenated seven-character string) to copy it.

@JeandreWelsh, I'm glad you found it helpful. I was kind of afraid that I was starting at Adam and Eve and never quite getting as far as Noah. :-)
