how to correct names that have been copied incorrectly
Hi, I was attaching marriage records of a relative and several of the names have been copied down wrong. I am in Australia so cannot access the original copies of NY marriages but several names are incorrect and need to be fixed. Who do I contact to get this fixed? thank you

What years of NY marriages do you need? If you are researching New York City, the City has put many years of their records online, for free. https://a860-historicalvitalrecords.nyc.gov/search
As far as editing indexes on FamilySearch, if the name has been incorrectly indexed/transcribed, editing is only possible when accessing NYC marriages at a FamilySearch Center or Affiliate Library. Indexes without images cannot be edited, since it would not be possible to verify where the error appears - in the index or on the original record. When we access those records at the FSC or AL, we can see the images and the Edit option is available.

According to the image on the NYC site, the mother's maiden name is Anna Gand Waring.

The image on FamilySearch is the same as on the NYC site, just in black and white instead of color.
The clerk may have gotten it wrong - misheard what the contracting party said - but we can't change what is written on the form.

is there anyway of leaving a comment that states the names are wrong? I have had so many official records getting it wrong, it is a nightmare when tracing relatives. thank you for responding, it is very kind of you.

Yes, you can put a Note, an Alert Note, a Discussion, a Reason Statement, or even a copy of the record with what you believe to be correct.
I often add a lengthy Proof Statement explaining how I know what I know and how I reached my conclusions.
